Last I See

Last I See was written at the end of a toxic relationship. It celebrates the freedom you experience post breakup and it makes you realize that being by yourself is actually amazing. That you are the key to your own happiness. It’s about rediscovering your own strenght.

“I was in a pretty toxic relationship. My partner at the time wanted me to share my location and my calendar. He would text me stuff like ‘I see you’re in Ghent, are you by yourself… would you tell me if you weren’t?’.

The singer claimed this was her first real relationship and that she didn’t have anyone else to compare him to.

“The relationship ended because at the end of our trip I said no to sex and he did what he wanted in my sleep.

The singer opened up about this event in her podcast.

“This is the most important episode so far because it educates people on sneaky types of sexual assault that might be confusing". Often times people will not see unwanted sexual activity as assault when it’s done by their partner, but to be betrayed by the person you’re supposed to trust is so damaging.”

The Sound

“When I was still active on YouTube, I used to write songs on livestreams because it was such a lonely process and it was fun to have people around. At the second verse someone gave input that changed the whole song around. It brought variety and a feeling of continuation. Another viewer send some guitars over. Those two people changed my music forever!! And I’m so grateful for them. This song has become such an anthem!”

Lyrics

Just a little mistake that I can’t erase
I was forsaken, left unread
Not an open book, boy I got you hooked
At the taste of the tip of my mystery

Keep me concealed and I promise
I’ll make up for all the times that you chained me down
Have a good laugh at me and I promise you
It’s the last that you’ll experience

Do you miss me now, swear I hear you crying in your sleep
Bad decisions, why, but you never said it to my face
Are you happy now, do the voices tell you otherwise
One day I will die, but you won’t be the last I see

(help me)

Don’t leave your thoughts unsaid
It’s not up to me to guess
Everything that you expect from me

Even if I could, let’s be honest
I would be submissive as long as it’s right for me
Be my victim, won’t forgive you
Figure out where we need to be
It’s not up to me to make this right

Do you miss me now, swear I hear you crying in your sleep
Bad decisions, why, but you never said it to my face
Are you happy now, do the voices tell you otherwise
One day I will die, but you won’t be the last I see
