Josy is the little girl, the teenager, she represents the powerless, the unheard. Josy has been through more trauma than any kid should ever have to face. Her parents’ constant fighting has instilled a lack of trust in her. A target for endless bullying at school. When she would seek shelter in a partner, they would break her trust again. She’s not safe anywhere. Too many layers of pain to bear.

Despite all this, there’s a quiet strenght in Josy. She’s not completely broken, just scared and wary. She represents the innocence we desperately try to protect in today’s world. Seeing her struggle is a painful reminder of how much work there is to do to make sure kids like Josy can feel safe, supported and valued.

Josy is the base of trauma for songs like Family Disaster, One Minute, What If I’m Right, Something About Those Eyes, Last I See, Damaged Goods.
